How Did You Start Using Your Talents?
A farming childhood in Nebraska gave Paul little exposure to running a business, but he was always fascinated by the success of his entrepreneurial uncle. A boss early in his sales career taught him the practice of generosity and of being a supportive resource to customers. BOSS is Paul’s latest way of “giving back.”
The Most Impactful Turning Point?
Leaving a lucrative job at Harris Interactive—earlier he’d also worked for Gallup—Hurricane Katrina hit his new employer on his start date. A chance meeting in Dallas reconnected Paul with his former boss, a new job, and a process of “getting clarity” about his lifelong desire to be an entrepreneur.
The Most Powerful Lessons Learned?
“Throughout my career, whenever I’ve given the most, I’ve received the most. When I’ve volunteered and given back, supported people, mentored college students, it’s amazing how this really pays off. On the other hand, when I’m focused on just trying to make money, I’m losing sight of the big picture.”
