238. A 7-Figure Business Springs from “Making Space for Her Dream”
Kat Loterzo
From the time she was a child, Kat Loterzo was a voracious reader and academic all-star whose parents told her she could do anything she set her mind to. Becoming a lawyer was her goal. But something unexpected happened her first semester at university.
Kat Loterzo is a business coach, bestselling author, speaker and mentor to revolutionary leaders who want it all, on their terms. Having built a successful online fitness business, she draws on that experience when she mentors her coaching students how to create their own successful businesses online.
How Did You Start Using Your Talents?
“I’d always been very entrepreneurial and was one of those kids who was constantly selling things door-to-door and on the school yard. I’d had this vision to be a lawyer, but at the same time I really saw myself as somebody who was going to influence and impact a lot of people.” Only a few days after starting law school, she recalls, “I started to feel this unsettled feeling that this wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. I didn’t think I wanted to just show up every day, do as I was told, and always follow rules and procedures. I certainly didn’t know what I DID want to do instead, but I guess I was starting to be drawn to the concept of creating my own destiny, from a business point of view.”
The Most Impactful Turning Point?
“Around 2008, I was just trying to put up a website, because it would be better than continuing to send these really image-rich newsletters to people. My clients were complaining they couldn’t download them! I’d get really excited, with using bright colors, images and documents that nobody could download. So, around 2012, I began learning the ins and outs and intricacies of how to do things in a higher tech way online. Now, with all that new knowledge, I’ve sort of come full circle to what I was doing in 2008-09, when I was just doing what felt right.”
The Most Powerful Lessons Learned?
“You might need to be doing things right now that you don’t particularly love in order to make a living. But you can still make time for exploring your soul work. I call it ‘making space for your dreams.’ No matter what’s going on in life, no matter what you’re doing right now for money, you have to make space for your dreams. That’s when you journal and explore what comes up for you in your mind. Whether it’s 30 minutes a day or even less. The results will be amazing.”
Steps to Success from Kat Loterzo
1. Make space every day for your dream: journal every day.
2. View your current work, no matter what it is, as a means of creating your destiny and making your dream real.
3. Do your daily “soul work”—your journaling and visioning—for its own sake. Don’t try to force it to do anything, just let ideas come.
