6. Chiropractor Sees Herself as “the New Family Doctor"
Karen Tedeschi
In her practice in Atlanta, Georgia, chiropractor Karen Tedeschi offers natural treatments—typically a combination of hands-on therapies like massage and traditional chiropractic—as well as home health solutions. “I emphasize education and empowerment for people to be responsible for their health. I see myself as the new family doctor.”
How Did You Start Using Your Talents?
I grew up in an extended family among relatives who followed the traditional medical model. At 20, I decided to go to massage school. While rooming with two chiropractic students, I began to see how I could incorporate those two disciplines, along with other hands-on practices into my own approach.
The Most Impactful Turning Point?
Realizing I want my life to help people and that I get to choose where my life energy will go. Even though my path may look different than what I started out to do, I know I’ll always be helping people. It makes me want to do this long-term.
The Most Powerful Lessons Learned?
Making changes and cultivating a strong practice of gratitude. Whatever change you make, you have to know what you want to change, and that you want to change something. Even if you make the smallest change, it will lead to something else. Consistent gratitude will totally change your inner landscape.
