102. Social Change Nation Helps Social Entrepreneurs Make a Dollar and a Difference

Working for a variety of nonprofit and purpose-driven for-profits, Josh’s desire to work for social change remained strong, but he wasn’t clear how all the parts fit together. Connecting with a supportive start-up community of like-minded people in Kansas City nurtured him toward creating Social Change Nation, where he now helps create supportive communities.

Josh’s high school dream of being the next Matt Damon fell apart as he was turned down by school after school. He suddenly knew college was the wrong choice. He ended up enlisting in AmeriCorps, which “really came to define my life and laid a foundation for everything I did.”

“Make people feel like they can become part of something greater than themselves, and they’ll love you for it,” Josh said while chatting with social entrepreneurs around the world. “One thing that makes a successful social entrepreneur stand out is their ability to bring people into causes bigger than any one person.”
