48. Colorful Career Palette
Jeanne Rivard
Jeanne Rivard’s entrepreneurial spirit has helped her adapt continuously to new interests and career opportunities—from advertising to accounting, real estate, construction, food and entertainment, to alternative healing. At each new venture she added skills and explored new talents. Currently she’s writing a book on chronic illness and practicing acupuncture-related Tong Ren.
How Did You Start Using Your Talents?
From her first job in advertising in the mid-‘70s, Jeanne began using and developing her communications skills, which served her well in each of many new career ventures. Her knowledge of business and marketing complemented her verbal skills to equip her for the stimulating variety of pursuits that enriched her world of work.
The Most Impactful Turning Point?
Synchronicity is a theme in Jeanne’s life. At a chance encounter with actor Tony Curtis in Las Vegas, he talked about synchronicity in his own career, notably when he met a Hollywood producer through an unplanned airline seating and his career took off. In her interview, Jeanne recounts her own experiences with synchronicity.
The Most Powerful Lessons Learned?
Learning to trust her instincts has rewarded Jeanne richly. Mentioning her interest in real estate to her employer, the president of the company listed his house with her. When it quickly sold, word of mouth referrals followed. That instinctive guidance led her to a 20-year successful career in real estate.
