198. “Sexy Boss” Coaches Via Books, Websites, Online and in Person

After multiple corporate jobs—“I’ve been fired from more corporate jobs than you can shake a stick at”—Heather realized her true destiny was to be an entrepreneur. Ironically, she was a shy child who needed speech therapy twice a week for several years. “Now I speak, coach, communicate and write. I also failed writing in English class but have published two books!”

As the Internet was becoming popular, Heather tried her hand at online marketing. She created her own undergraduate degree in 1999, an interdisciplinary study focusing on telecommunications and web design. As one of the first students to go through the program, she earned a Master’s degree in online marketing at Full Sail University, Orlando, Florida.

“You have to be willing to fail. Younger people are coming out of college terrified of failure and afraid to take risks. Throughout my life I have failed much more often than I’ve succeeded. Remember, Steve Jobs had many failures along the way. My advice is go do something really different from anything you’ve ever done before. Don’t be afraid to go learn how to fail.”
