127. “Vegan Warrior” Sheds 164 Pounds, Living Cruelty-Free
Curtis Ingram
Curtis “Zeal” Ingram, also known as the Vegan Warrior, declares, “I will be 7 years old on Thanksgiving Day 2015. That is the day I chose to live ‘cruelty free,’ a conscious lifestyle for my health, literally doing no harm to animals and the planet, to the best of my ability.”
How Did You Start Using Your Talents?
As a high school and college wrestler and football player, and as a fitness trainer in the military, Curtis knew how it felt to be physically fit. But in his late 30s, life intervened. He lost his parents in their 50s and began to put on weight, eating all the wrong things.
The Most Impactful Turning Point?
At his son’s high school graduation—“the day that was supposed to be my happiest, I was actually the saddest”—Curtis could barely carry his 369 pounds across the parking lot and climb the stadium steps to his seat. He decided that day he had to change everything about his life.
The Most Powerful Lessons Learned?
“It goes back to a balance between the things you eat—your physical nourishment—along with your consciousness and your understanding of your spirituality. I think it’s a mind-body-spirit-soul connection that brings everything together.” This did not happen overnight, Curtis explains. He gives much of the credit to the teachings of Eckhart Tolle.
