53. Sharing Her Entrepreneurial Passion Online
Andrea Lake
Andrea Lake is CEO of Lessons.biz and Co-Founder of Mentor Mojo, two e-learning platforms to help entrepreneurs succeed. Since age 18, she founded 14 companies including StickerJunkie.com and YogaJunkie. Her company, Delinquent Distribution, owned merchandise sales rights on brands including Minecraft, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Walking Dead, The Hobbit, etc.
How Did You Start Using Your Talents?
Since high school Andrea has been creating successful companies, beginning with a “science-y” juggling toy called Rhythm Sticks. As friends asked to buy them, she parlayed her sales revenue into producing more, eventually selling them to a network of shops and stores. Her entrepreneurial passion led her to forego college.
The Most Impactful Turning Point?
With the success of Rhythm Sticks she recognized herself as a real business person, not a hobbyist. Heartsick when Public Broadcasting’s stores placed an order for 50,000, which she could not fill in time, she learned about scalability, deciding to find items she could produce quickly in limitless quantities.
The Most Powerful Lessons Learned?
Failures are a part of every entrepreneur’s experience, even in a career of major successes. The trick is to recognize this and not take them so seriously. With apparent failures have come unexpected twists leading to greater successes. You will be dispirited at times, but don’t give up, she advises.
